What Trauma-Informed Yoga Actually Looks Like

"Trauma-informed" gets used a lot without much explanation. Here's what it actually means in practice.
A trauma-informed yoga space is built around choice. Nothing is required. You're invited to modify, skip, or simply witness a pose rather than perform it. The language shifts too — instructions become invitations ("you might try" rather than commands), because reclaiming a sense of control over your own body is often the whole point.
In our Healing Inside & Out program, each session moves through mindfulness, breath, and gentle movement in a structure designed to build safety before it asks for anything else. Survivors often find movement easier to access than talking — the body can process what words sometimes can't reach yet.
Over seven weeks, the goal isn't performance. It's reconnection — to your body, to your breath, and eventually, to a sense of safety that trauma can make feel very far away.
Healing Inside & Out runs seasonally in Winter, Spring, and Summer cohorts, hybrid virtual and in-person.
